Treatment Options for Type 2 Diabetes in Adolescents and Youth (TODAY) is a multi-center clinical research study funded by the National Institutes of Health. It will examine the safety and efficacy of three treatments for type 2 diabetes in the pediatric population. TODAY was initiated due to the increase in type 2 diabetes in children and adolescents, which itself is linked to the rise in obesity and sedentary behaviors in American youth.

TODAY will enroll 750 children, age 10-17, at 13 sites around the United States, and will follow them for two to five years. Enrollment begins in May 2004 and goes through 2009.

As a health care provider, you may have children in your practice with Type 2 diabetes that may be eligible for the TODAY study. Please click here to read more about the study.
