TODAY Study Timetable TODAY will recruit patients over a three-year period, beginning in May 2004 and continuing through 2009. Patients are randomized within two years of their diagnosis of type 2 diabetes and followed for 2-5 years, depending on their date of enrollment. During their first year in the study, all participants come to the TODAY clinic for medical visits: six times per year (every two months) for the first year four times per year every year thereafter Lifestyle participants meet with their PAL and FSP about once a week for the first six months (sessions will last one to two hours). after the first six months, these visits will be held every other week. after the first year, the child and FSP will meet with their PAL once a month, and will also speak with him or her monthly by phone.
